After my spot at the monthly VJ London open night I’m overflowing with new found enthusiasm and ideas for the project. I already had a layer that used a spectral analyser but it wasn’t exactly a showstopper. Thus I added a third mixer ( M Audio xsession pro) which I had previously dumped in favour of the Akai Midimix(s). This mixer is now used for selecting frequencies and marking high and low amplitude. From the sequencer I can then chain various layer attributes (e.g. hue, opacity, scale etc) to the selected audio range. This looked pretty good especially the scaling of layers to the music. To improve on the harsh rectangular edges of the scaling layers I also implemented css masks using pngs…. after which I played for a few hours!
