Looks like I’ve got something that pretty much works and is not too choppy. Currently mixing 10 layers of video, sprites and images. Just added an audio spectrum layer. Need to do some more work to get that working with the sequencer.
I’m really pleased with the two kaleidoscope layers. Using the mixer you can change the number of segments on the fly along with the scale of the segment and Y position of the segment and spin speed of the segment and whole kaleidoscope. Plus with the sequencer you can change the segment images and tint the segment images including alternating colours (sync’d to the beat).
